6/18 – Seeing the Law Through The Eyes of Jesus
Paul said the life he lived in the flesh was by what he believed. We try to do WWJD and put the cart before the horse. We want to talk about what he believed bc what he did was the fruit of what he believed.
The carnal mind wants you to tell it what we can do to have life.
When you are confronted with what Jesus believed it will strengthen you in the inner man.
What did Jesus see when he read the law?
The law came to reveal what was killing us. Paul said the law was holy and righteous and just.
The law was added so that sin would abound.
Big problem is that we don’t know what sin is. Prior to the law mankind could not see what sin is. They couldn’t see that looking to the strength of their own hands was causing death to reign over them.
When you mix the law and the carnal mind it will bring bondage and death. The law is not what was evil. Jesus didn’t come to do away with the law.
He came to fulfill the law, not destroy – fulfill means to bring to realization. Jesus came to reveal the spirit of the law that the prophets were declaring.
Rest speaks to the foundation of why you do what you do, not physical activity or inactivity.
** Jesus received grace from the law by reading it and seeing the God is the one who brings forth life, not seeing that he had to do works.
The feast of first fruits speaks of the resurrection, not bringing the best offering. There is going to be new life and I’m going to be the first one to be raised. Through his resurrection, they will be brought into rest.
